Anirban Banerjee is a professional sarod player of the Senia Shah-Jahanpur gharana. He has received Sangeet Visharad in music and won many prizes in several competitions like The Dover Lane Music Talent Search Contest, etc.
Anirban was born in Kolkata in a musical environmental family. With the support of his parents, he was initiated into music and he started learning sarod from Sri Prattyush Banerjee, a disciple of eminent sarod maestro Padma Bhushan Pt Buddhadev Dasgupta of the Senia-Shahjahanpur Garana.
After that, he started taking intensive Talim from Sri Siddhartha Roy Chowdhury, son and disciple of Sangeetacharya Late Anil Roy Chowdhury, with best care and affection. Now, he is under Pandit Sanjoy Bandyopadhyay, the famous sitar maestro.
At present, Anirban is studying MA in Instrumental Music (Sarod) in Rabindra Bharati University. He has achieved Diploma in Sangeet Vishard from Pracheen Kala Kendra (Chandigarh).
He has performed at Art of Living in 2008 and Habitat Centre at New Delhi in 2009, Classical Music and Dance festival at Chaya Mahal Auditorium, etc.
