Pandit Ranajit Sengupta is a professional sarod artist based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. The composer, researcher and educator has been performing around the world for more than 20 years now.
Ranajit is a student of the late Ustad Dhyanesh Khan and Ustad Aashish Khan of Maihar Senia Gharana. He has attended several workshops by Late Dr Ustad Ali Akbar Khan in India and California as well.
He is one of the young gifted sarod players from All India Radio and Doordarshan, having conferred the official Pandit title by the Broadcasting Corporation of India. Ranajit is a topper in both graduation and master's exam from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.
Ranajit is the youngest Indian to give a lecture at the Hamburg University in 1994 and is currently a guest lecturer in universities across the USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, England, and India. He composed music for the Dutch feature film called Dark Amsterdam, the title music for an international film festival in Kolkata (1994) and the music for the movie called Lost and Found Tour, filmed about him and three other Austrian musicians.
He has released over 30 CDs and DVDs worldwide.
